ABSTRACT: The bmpi (1,3-bis(6′-methyl-2′-pyridylimino)isoindoline) pincer Ru(II) hydride complex catalyzes base-free, acceptorless, and chemoselective dehydrogenation of alcohols with liberation of dihydrogen under moderate (200 °C). Thus, complex 2 is only the second reported example of catalytic ADC reactivity of diols to lactones that does not require an added hydrogen acceptor and base and occurs under moderate (
