Thanks to American enterprise, our country no longer needs to depend on the natural rubber tree for making fine rubber products. Capacity to pro duce butadiene, a key ingredient in synthetic rubber, is being increased substantially. Petro-Tex Chemical Corporation, of Houston, is a leading producer of buta diene. An expansion program, nearing completion, increases capacity by more than 50 percent, reduces operating costs a n d utilizes raw materials more efficiently.
