Bell & Howell & Chuck Hull & The 21-492 Mass Spectrometer

^

Introductions are in order. We're Bell & Howell. The idea people that help you see and do things better. Chuck Hull's our man in mass spectrometers—we call him the "man who cried for more." The 21 -492 is a good example. Chuck started out with a double-focusing mass spectrometer, designed with the aid of a computer. The resolving power was maximum—15,000 (10% Valley). And peak-matching capabilities of better than 5 ppm. And he uttered, "more". He added scan speeds to 1 second per decade even at high resolution. He added a heated-batch system. And built in a direct introduction inlet system. He did a double check to assure us it was convertible from our low and medium-resolution mass spectrometers. And then he surprised us. Suddenly Chuck wanted less. And insisted on a price tag below $50,000. Fortunately, he's returned to normal. Chuck built the 21 -492 to do a lot. Like clarify chemical structures with ease, identify unknown molecules, and handle gas chromatograph monitoring. He realizes how many people ought to get to know the Bell & Howell 21-492. So he's looking for inquiries. And you know what he's saying.
