T

homas H. Epps, III is the Thomas & Kipp Gutshall Chair of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Delaware (UD). He holds a B.S. in chemical engineering (MIT, 1998) and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering (University of Minnesota, 2004). Prof. Epps was an NRC Postdoctoral Fellow at NIST from 2004 to 2006, prior to joining UD. His research focuses on the design, synthesis, and nanoscale characterization of soft materials for applications ranging from membranes to surface-responsive polymer films to solution assemblies for targeted drug delivery. He has received several awards, including the DuPont Young Professor Award, PECASE Award, Air Force Young Investigator Award, NOBCChE Lloyd N. Ferguson Young Scientist Award, and NSF CAREER Award. Sarah E. Mastroianni is Ph.D. candidate in chemical and biomolecular engineering at the University of Delaware under the direction of Prof. Thomas H. Epps, III. She received her B.S. in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in 2008. Her research is focused on nanostructured conducting materials using block copolymer assemblies.
