Received August 3, 1983 The reaction between bis(1-oxo)bis(oxomolybdenum(V)), Mo204'+, and Ce(IV) has been studied in acidic perchlorate media via stopped-flow techniques. The reaction is rapid and quantitative, and the stoichiometry corresponds to MoV2 2Ce(IV) % MoVt2 Ce(II1). The observed rate law for the reaction for [ M o ~ O ~ ~>' ][Ce(IV)] is -d[Ce(IV)]/Zdt = k2[Mo2042+] [Ce(IV)], where k2 = k & , / ( [ H + ] Kh). The rate constant, k2h, was found to be 2.73 X lo4 M-' s-I and Kh = 0.46 M (1 = 2.0 M, T = 25.0 "C). The observed rate constant was unaffected by added products or C1- (
