number of points that are not always apparent to those not involved in regulatory aspects of analysis. This section was a good idea; however, it could have been expanded. Many of the chapters are written by recognized experts in their respective areas. There are a few marginal chapters, but as a whole coverage ranges from good to very good. For example, the chapter on resolution of optical isomers is extremely well developed and leads one through the fundamental aspects of stereochemistry to the separation of important compounds, such as amino acids and pharmaceutically active enantiomeric amines. There are numerous illustrations throughout the book that are wellchosen to clarify important points. In summary, despite a few deficiencies, this book's positive points far outweigh its negative features. It will make a beneficial addition to the practicing chromatographer's library, especially for those involved in pharmaceutical analysis.
