NEW CHEMICALS CONOASH-M is a magnesium sulfonate ash aid available at 1 wt % magnesium in oil. This is equivalent to about 5 % MgS04 when ashed. The preparation is specifically designed to aid in X-ray fluorescence analysis and can be used in other laboratory applications. Con tinental Oil Co. 713-225-1511 501
BUCHLER INSTRUMENTS FOR
MONITORING AND COLLECTING LIQUID EFFLUENT These components comprise a highly efficient, automatic system for continuous flow, liquid monitoring and collecting. They can, of course, be used separately and in conjunction with oth er instruments; together they form a Chromato graphic system that you can depend on. (A) Fractomette: compact, 200 tube linear fraction collector (B & C) Fractoscan: double-beam UV pho tometer that permits use of any wave length in the UV range; output linear in optical density. CD) Potentiometric-Servo Recorder: A re liable recorder with 5"wide strip chart.
SpecTru AB2 is a new dye for the de termination of human serum albumin which has several advantages over HABA. Its working solution is stable for at least 1 year at room temperature. The peak absorbance is about 2.2 times that of the HABA complex. SpecTru AB2 is available in dry form, stock solu tion, or working solution. Pierce Chem ical Co. 815-968-0747 502 X-ray mix, an additive for X-ray spec troscopic sample preparations, comes in 0.5 and 0.25 gram preweighed tab lets and 4 4 - μ powder. Samples are polymerized and bonded together under briquetting pressure to give plasticized pellets. The pellets are resistant to breakage, flaking apart in vacuum, and X-ray deterioration. The sample preparation process gives sample particle size reduction, uni formity of particle distribution, and homogeneity. The mix is organic in composition and will not chemically react with samples. The powder is $ 1 2 / l b ; tablets are $ 2 3 / 5 0 0 (0.25 gram) and $ 2 5 / 5 0 0 (0.5 gram). Chemplex Industries, Inc. 9 1 4 - 4 7 2 6766 503 Standard Reference Materials to be used as pH buffers in clinical labora tories are SRM 9 2 2 , tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, and SRM 9 2 3 , tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane hy drochloride. These new materials are intended for the preparation of stan dard buffer solutions in cases where phosphate buffers would cause unde sirable side reactions or do not ade quately approximate the required vari ations of pH with temperature. SRM 9 2 2 is priced at $ 4 0 for 25 grams; 923 is $ 4 0 for 3 5 grams. They are provisionally certified to yield an ac curate, reproducible pH(s) buffer so lution ( 0 . 0 1 6 6 7 m , 9 2 2 ; and 0 . 0 5 m , 923); the variation with temperature from 0 ° to 5 0 ° C is also certified. These SRM's may be purchased from the Office of Standard Reference Ma terials, Room B314, Chemistry Bldg., National Bureau of Standards, Wash ington, D.C. 2 0 2 3 4

Our silylation reagents are known the w o r l d over for their p u r i t y , efficiency and conven ience. The ready f o r use T R I - S I L formula tions rapidly produce volatile and thermally stable derivatives for gas phase analyses in simple one step procedures. Our free 60 page booklet Handbook of Silylation des cribes these and other reagents, solvents and standards, lists methods and references and provides numerous suggestions and practical ideas. If y o u d o n ' t have a copy we'll be glad to send you one.
