BUYER'S GUIDE INFORMATION TOOLS Superfund records on CD-ROM. Environmental Compliance Reporter, Inc., is releasing on CD-ROM a complete and current compilation of all "Records of Decision" (RODs) for every site on EPA's National Priority List. Each ROD includes information on pollutants found at the site, remediation techniques that will be employed, and the costs of the prescribed cleanup. The database, titled "RODcite," operates under Windows 3x, Windows 95, and NT. 120 Topographic raster maps. Horizons Technology, Inc., and ESRI, Inc., have teamed together to deliver USGS topographic raster maps over the Internet as part of their ArcData Online program for use on Geographic Information System (GIS) projects. Seamless topographic map data in three scales are available for viewing, extraction, and reprojection. 121
Nitrogen and sulfur analyzers. Antek Instruments, Inc., introduces me PCbased 9000 series analyzers for total nitrogen, total sulfur, and total trace sulfur (10 ppb) analyses on gas, liquid, and solid samples, using chemiluminescent nitrogen and UV-fluorescent sulfur technologies. The 32-bit Windows-based software provides data acquisition, analysis, and storage, as well as instrument control. 124
TREATMENT
MONITORING Chlorine analyzer. Applied Analytics adds chlorine monitoring to the capabilities of its OMA-517 Process Diode Array on-line spectrometer. The OMA-517 simultaneously measures both chlorine and chlorine dioxide in gaseous streams containing VCM, CFC, EDC, PVC, and many other compounds. The analyzer is available as a stand-alone unit or combined with a computer-controlled automatic sampling system. 125
Water and wastewater catalog. USA BlueBook has released its annual catalog of water and wastewater supplies with over 11,000 listings and 2500 color illustrations. 122
LABORATORY CEA Instruments' Gas Baron gas monitor
Fluorine analyzer. Oxford Instruments, Inc., introduces its QP20+ benchtop analyzer as an upgrade to its QP20 model. Using pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance, it measures a wide range of components, including water, oil, fats, and chemical products, usually in less than 30 seconds. In addition to featuring an optional PC operating system, a new application package can determine fluorine in waste solvents and in alumina smelting scrubbers. 123
Stack emission monitor. Molecular Analytics offers the StackMaster-IMS for continuous, unattended, real-time measurement of industrial gas emissions. Using ion mobility spectrometry, the system measures ammonia, hydrogenfluoride, hydrogen chloride, chlorine, and chlorine dioxide. 127
Hydrogen sulfide monitor. CEA Instruments, Inc., introduces the Gas Baron pocket-sized H2S gas monitor as part of a series of single gas, portable, and wall-mounted monitors available for over 200 different gases. This UL-approved unit weighs about 3 ounces and features a digital display, user-adjustable audio/visual alarms, and a Lithium battery. The sensors usually last two years and can be replaced in the field. 126
UV disinfection. Capital Controls Company, Inc., introduces two new ultraviolet disinfection units for water and wastewater. The Series 8101 stainless-steel closed vessel, pointof-use UV unit disinfects water flows of up to 7 gpm. The Scorpion openchannel UV unit disinfects wastewater flows up to 5 mgd. 128 VOC destruction. AlliedSignal Engines' ASE8 aeroderivative gas turbines are equipped with a patented VOC destruction system. Polluted air is compressed by a two-stage centrifugal compressor, mixed with natural gas, and combusted in a proprietary cyclonic reaction chamber. The output goes through the three-stage ASE8 turbine producing up to 525 kilowatts of electricity per engine. In its first industrial application, a 99% reduction in VOCs was realized while saving 25% in energy costs. 129 Wastewater treatment. Kriiger, Inc., offers its A/O Process for treating wastewater with less space requirements and improved sludge stability over conventional activated sludge processes. An anaerobic phase of biomass cultivation is followed by an aerobic phase to produce a nonbulking sludge with low soluble phosphorus levels. 130 For more information on products and services mentioned in "Buyer's Guide," circle the appropriate number on the Reader Service Card in this issue.
