Buyer’s▼Guide Analysis Sulfur compounds. Agilent Technologies, Inc., announces its mass selective detector, which can determine trace levels of sulfur compounds in various hydrocarbon matrices with sensitivity in the low parts-per-billion range. Such sensitivity may interest fuel cell developers involved with reforming systems. Time-programmed selective ion monitoring allows selective determination of a number of sulfur components. (Call 650-485-5603, or visit www.agilent.com/chem.)

Hazardous Materials Infectious waste. DUCAMP is marketing the DHS System, which uses a unique decontamination process that renders infectious waste inert, so that such waste, for example, from hospitals, may be placed in a landfill or incinerated without further processing. The system also supplies appropriate packaging for each specific type of material and a barcode for each container for proper tracking. (Call +33 3 22 66 66 65, or e-mail xcornet@groupe-ducamp. com.)

Measurement

Flowmeter. TTI, Inc., offers Fuji’s Time Delta S Version 3, which features a fully automatic transmission method and wave pattern selector, which are

advances in clamp-on transit time ultrasonic flowmeter technology. It can scan through correlation or standard transit time mode through up to seven transmission patterns and may be used with ultrapure, moderately dirty, and aerated systems with pipe diameters of 0.5–236 inches (Call 800235-8367, or e-mail sales@ttiglobal. com.) Dry or liquid sample testing. Eriez Magnetics offers free testing of process materials in limited quantities. Testing includes feeding, conveying, metal detection, and magnetic separation. Samples can range from finely milled powders to large aggregate materials and liquid suspensions. Ferrous and nonferrous contaminants can be removed. (Call 888-300-3743, or e-mail [email protected].)

Monitoring Gas detection. Thermo GasTech introduces the GT INNOVA, which provides gas detection solutions for industrial and commercial environments. It has a 20% increase in flow rate; auto-calibration; Innova View, a powerful data log and configuration package; five combustible gas ranges; and robust sensors. Detectable gases include nitrogen oxides, hydrogen cyanide, CO, H2S, ammonia, and phosphine. (Call 510-745-8700, or e-mail skubina@ thermogastech.com.) H2S peak readings. MSA announces its PULSAR Single-Gas Detector, which features peak reading capability in its hydrogen sulfide (H2S) model. Other models are available for carbon monoxide or oxygen detecton and have a service life of up to 24 months. Uses include industrial environments, such as chemical, petrochemical, construction, and utilities. (Call 724-776-8828, or e-mail denise. [email protected].)

Safety Surge suppressers. Ventronics offers an extensive range of metal oxide varistors, gas discharge tubes, and Transorb transient voltage suppressers, which are among a large number of high-reliability surge protection devices now available. These devices provide protection against destructive effects of voltage surges. Battery packs and assemblies are also available. (Call 908-272-9262, or e-mail [email protected].)

Treatment Stormwater discharge. Highland Tank has a line of Highland oil/water separators to help satisfy requirements for EPA stormwater permits. These oil/water separators meet Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc.’s UL-SU2215 approval standard and are rated for 10-ppm oil and grease, which is regarded as the national consensus standard. (Call 814-893-1109, or visit www.highlandtank.com.) Wastewater pump. Pumpex’s all-new Pumpex K-Series wastewater pump allows municipalities and industrial wastewater processors to gain extended flow output from a smaller, spacesaving pump. This electric, submersible pump is designed to handle raw sewage, industrial wastewater, and contaminated or abrasive liquids. The pump and electric motor are built as a single unit. (Call 908-730-7004.) Reverse osmosis. Labconco Corp. offers the WaterPro RO Station for point-of-use laboratory-grade reverse osmosis water. Water is produced on demand and can be dispensed at a typical rate of 1 L/min at inlet water at 25 °C. RO-purified water is very useful for reagent preparation, general biotechnology work, and glassware cleaning. (Call 800-821-5525, or visit www. labconco.com.)
