Abstract cards pertaining to literature and patents in this field will include sufficient detail to indicate to the general reader the nature and value of the contribution and to enable the specialist to assess its importance in relation to his own work. The first year the abstracts will include current papers and papers published from 1957. Abstracts should appear within one month of publication of papers. Yearly subscription rates are £55 or $166 payable in advance. The subscription includes annual subject and author indexes.

A proposal to merge has been announced by the Presidents of Mallinckrodt Chemical Works, St. Louis, and Baird-Atomic, Inc., Cambridge, Mass. The transaction is subject to approval by shareholders of BairdAtomic and the Boards of Directors of both companies. The Directors of Orion Research Inc., and Geochron Laboratories, Inc., both of Cambridge, Mass., have agreed in principle to the acquisition of

Geochron by Orion. The stockholders of both companies will vote on the transaction in the near future. Varian Aerograph's Midwestern sales force has moved to new offices in the Chicago area.
