Call for Papers: Allosteric Modulators of Drug TargetsSpecial Issue for 2019

J

anuary 2019 will see an ACS Chemical Neuroscience special issue that crosses over with the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters on “Allosteric Modulators of Drug Targets”. ACS Chemical Neuroscience has been home to a number of important papers on GPCR allosteric modulators and in-depth pharmacology, and I invite everyone to consider a Review, Perspective, Article, or Letter on the topic to submit for this one of a kind exposé on allosteric modulation across the ACS portfolio. I would love to see submissions on new aspects of GPCR allosteric pharmacology/assays, quantitative pharmacology, allosteric binding sites/mutagenesis, insights into in vitro/in vivo pharmacology with GPCR allosteric modulators, as well as new advances in biomarkers for these mechanisms. Of course, we do not need to limit to GPCRs, and I welcome submissions on other molecular targets (kinases, transporters, ion channels, etc.). Moreover, new insights into endogenous allosteric modulators would also be most welcome. Why submit? The thematic crossover with the three Journals will attract maximum exposure for your work, and afford the biomedical research community an incredible resource of information that spans pharmacology, behavior, biomarkers, new ligands, SAR, and first disclosures. Importantly, such a thematic focus will catalyze new ideas and concepts in the field. The Guest Editors, Carrie Haskell-Luevano (University of Minnesota) for the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Craig Lindsley (Vanderbilt University) for ACS Chemical Neuroscience, and Nicholas Carruthers (Johnson & Johnson), Tim Lovenberg (Johnson & Johnson), and Stephen Traynelis (Emory University) for ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters will be working together to publish these thematic issues in January of 2019. Thus, submission by September 2018 would be ideal. If you would like to discuss an idea for a Review or Perspective (or a presubmission inquiry), please email me at eic@ chemneuro.acs.org or [email protected]. I would love to see submissions for this special issue from both academia and industryI cannot think of a better venue to highlight your lab’s work in the allosteric modulator field. I look forward to your submissions and making this the definitive crossover Journal event of 2019!
