GETTING GREATER CAPACITY FROM SMALLER REGENERATORS IN REFORMING ORGANIC GASES

POINT No. 3

CARBOFRAX Checkers provide Faster Heat Release O n reversals, C A R B O F R A X silicon carbide brick give up heat equally as fast as they absorb it. I n 35 seconds, IVA" split C A R B O F R A X brick release as much heat as fireclay splits under t h e same conditions in 600 seconds. This exceptional difference is confirmed by additional data charted. U n l i k e ordinary refractories, C A R B O F R A X brick offer little resistance t o heat flow. T h e explanation is found in their high thermal conductivity— roughly 12 times that of fireclay. Rapidly heated, organic gases at high ve-

locities can be reformed at rates heretofore considered impractical. T w o t o four minute cycles for gases at velocities over 400 miles per hour are now used. Greater output from smaller regenerators is the obvious result. Regenerator design requires special attention to secure m a x i m u m efficiency from C A R B O F R A X checkers.
