OVERVIEW Despite the success of mass spectrometry-based analysis of protein expression, the more fundamental question of protein turnover remains a challenge. Te proteome is extremely dynamic and exists in constant fux. Most studies present one particular state of proteome at a given time with given conditions and do not describe the level of proteinsynthesis and degradation. Recent attempts to study protein turnover, based on stable isotope labeling, use diferent approaches and diferent algorithms for data processing. Here we perform a comparative analysis of rates of protein turnover from these diferent approaches from a variety of tissues and cell lines using the Termo Scientifc™ ProteinCenter™ sofware.
