CHED Committee Meetings These Division of Chemical Education (CHED) Committee meetings and events are planned for the Fall 2008 ACS Meeting in Philadelphia. Most will take place in the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel, 17th and Race Streets; this includes the Sunday evening Reception and Social Event; there will be no CHED Banquet. Saturday, August 16 Executive Committee: Executive Session 7:30–8 a.m.; Open session 8 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Sheraton Philadelphia City Center; Tom Greenbowe, Chair. Board of Publication: 1:30–6 p.m., Sheraton Philadelphia City Center; Diane Bunce, Chair.
Local boating clubs take great pride in their 19th-century boat houses, which line the Schuylkill River just west of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. At night, lights outline Boathouse Row.

Other CHED Events CHED Reception and Social Event, Sunday, August 17: 5–7 p.m., Sheraton Philadelphia City Center; Tom Greenbowe, Chair. This new open event was held for the first time at the New Orleans meeting, replacing the Division banquet. Tom Greenbowe, the 2008 chair of the Division, will be the host. Outside sponsorship has been obtained, so you do not need a ticket to attend. There will be light hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and live music (piano). This is an excellent chance to get to know other Division members and officers and to join in recognizing the recipient of the Division’s Golden Apple Award. High School Program: This program will be held Sunday, August 17, at the Chemical Heritage Foundation, 315 Chestnut Street. High School Luncheon: The luncheon is scheduled for Sunday, August 17, noon–1 p.m., at the Chemical Heritage Foundation, 315 Chestnut Street. Tickets are available from ACS.

Program and Activities: CHED • CHED technical sessions will be in the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center (except the Sunday evening and Undergraduate Poster sessions, which will be in the Pennsylvania Convention Center); morning sessions begin at 8:30 a.m.; afternoon sessions at 1:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted here or in the final program. • Booth at Exposition will be 1336 in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, representing CHED in general, JCE and JCE Software, the Exams Institute, Outreach Activities, and more. Hours: Monday and Tuesday 9–5; Wednesday 9–1. • Abstracts of CHED sessions are available to CHED Members through the ACS Web site (http://www.acs.org); they are expected to be available at the Division’s Web site, http://www. DivCHED.org, to all Division Members and Affiliates.
