Chemical plant equipment takes the stage at Philadelphia show Chemical plant managers and engineers who have wanted to view the latest offerings in plant equipment have had essentially two choices: the Chem Show, held early in December every other year, until recently in New York City but last year in Chicago; and the Petrochemical and Refining Exposition, sponsored by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in early spring every other year in Houston, 1977 being the most recent. A third choice was available this year. Early this month in Philadelphia, AIChE sponsored its first Chemical Plant Equipment Exposition, held in conjunction with its 85th national meeting. More than 300 exhibitors filled the floor of Philadelphia's Civic Center. On view was a broad array of plant equipment—from process control system to pumps and vessels. C&EN was there to record the event.
