NRC and Merck Set Dates For Fellowship Applications

Two Subjects Under Study By Oregon's Cheldelin

Three new research grants totaling $8,000 have been awarded b y commercial firms to Vernon Cheldelin, professor of chemistry at Oregon State College, for study in two different fields. Swift & C o . has given $2,000 for re­ search on formation of building units of the cell nucleus. Eli Lilly Co. a n d Abbott Laboratories have provided $3,000 each for studies on n e w forms of t h e vitamin pantothenic acid. Dr. Cheldelin has recently been named on t h e editorial board of Journal of Nu­ trition. He has also been appointed spe­ cial counselor to U. S. Public Health Serv­ ice in evaluating biochemistry a n d nutri­ tion research programs.
