WYANDOTTE GEISMAR CAUSTIC/CHLORINE PLANT Continually expanding foreign and domestic demands for caustic and chlorine are being met by our newest Geismar, Louisiana plant, on stream since April. Employing the latest in diaphragm cells, this $20-million facility has a daily capacity of 350 tons of chlorine and 385 tons of caustic. By joining its two sister plants, annual production of the Geismar complex is now in excess of 300 thousand tons of chlorine and 330 thousand tons of caustic . . . an increase of approximately 65%. The steadily growing demand for chlorine . . . pegged at an annual increase approximating 7% over the past several years . . . was the major reason for this plant expansion. Oil refining, chemical, pulp and paper, and organic solvents are the industries showing the greatest gain in both chlorine and caustic usage.

Barge shipments, rail and truck delivery are all available from Geismar. Wyandotte also produces caustic and chlorine in its Wyandotte, Michigan and Port Edwards, Wisconsin facilities.

EASTERN SUPPLY OF PLURAFAC D 25 SURFACTANT With continually growing demands for Plurafac® D-25 surfactant in the northeastern section of the country, Wyandotte has established a new supply point at its Washington, New Jersey plant site, to reinforce production at Wyandotte, Michigan. Designed to serve surfactant users in the major producing areas of New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore, this move will permit economic tank truck shipments within these general perimeters. Faster service is also in the offing . . . deliveries can normally be made into these metropolitan areas within 24 hours from the time an order is placed. Add the inherent savings of bulk shipments and smaller inventory requirements, and Wyandotte offers important advantages to even the more moderate consumers of this key surfactant. Plurafac D-25, one of a series of nine related nonionic, biodegradable surfactants, has achieved outstanding acceptance by formulators of heavy duty detergents due to its excellent detergency, soil suspension and immunity to water hardness . . . as well as storage stability. A 100% active, clear, colorless liquid, Plurafac D-25 also offers an important cost saving extra . . . a low pour point (0°F.) which gives it phenomenal low temperature handling characteristics; minimizes storage problems . . . eliminates the need for special heating units in most climatic areas. If you have producing facilities in the northeastern states and want to learn more about what this new supply point will mean to you, contact Wyandotte, addressing Department CO. Samples of Plurafac D-25 and formulation data are also available upon request.
