Chemistry of Materials, Editors’ Choice, and Twitter
■
EDITORS’ CHOICE In 2014, ACS launched Editors’ Choice,1 which features a new article daily from the ACS family of journals that has been chosen to be freely available (open access, in perpetuity). Articles are nominated by the scientific editors at acceptance,2 and this pool of Just Accepted manuscripts is carefully considered by a central committee at ACS. Since inception in January, 2014, 12 papers from Chemistry of Materials have been designated as Editors’ Choice (Figure 1); a
just about every publication within an issue. We include the embedded table of contents images to better advertise and draw attention to our publications. Chemistry of Materials now has over 1000 followers, and we greatly appreciate the two-way conversations that often arise. As practicing scientists, we are convinced that following the Twitter feeds of journals is an extremely efficient and practical means of keeping up with the latest publications and science-focused media reports in a way that can be done on the train, on the bus, or as is typically the case for us, while waiting for our coffee to brew. As always, we always want to hear from you.

selection of the stunning table of contents images from these papers is shown in Figure 2. Picking manuscripts to tag for consideration as an Editors’ Choice article is a very difficult task, since we believe that all papers published with us are interesting and top quality. We are looking for publications that have that extra something special that you believe would be of broad interest, that extends beyond the traditional scope of the journal.
