419 Model 725 automatic injector for HPLC systems allows unattended operation for injection of up to 64 consecutive samples with negligible carry-over between samples. The injector is microprocessor operated to control the injections per sample vial (up to three), injection time (1-99 min), rinse between samples, and automatic shutdown upon completion of the last sample or detection of a malfunction. The system uses disposable glass sample vials, and the vial cap functions as a piston to discharge the sample with positive flow. Only 0.7 mL of sample is needed per vial. Model IBT200 ion beam thinning system features automatic termination of specimen thinning without appreciably slowing thinning rates, eliminates the need for constant observation, and avoids wasted specimens. It will prepare ultrathin samples for transmission microscopy as well as etch surfaces for SEM studies. Specimens are mounted on a motorized rotating specimen holder and can be tilted during thinning. They are thinned by collimated ion beams emanating from twin ion guns on opposite sides of the specimen, powered by a variable 0-8000-V supply.
