Built in the Crankshafts of many Clark Balanced I Opposed Compressor Models Extra-heavy crankshafts a r e standard equipment on Clark Balanced/Opposed compressors it's brought about by standardization. All models of a particular stroke size have the same bearing and crankshaft diameter. As an example, the number one crankpin of all CMA models is capable of transmitting with complete safety 600 B H P . The CMA-2 rated a t 150-300 B H P a n d the CMA-4 rated a t 350-500 B H P therefore have a tremendous reserve. The same thing applies to the 14" a n d 17" stroke CRA and CBA models. Rugged shaft construction assures maximum bearing life a n d minimum maintenance. I t also eliminates the need for a bearing between opposing cylinder crankthrows which would double the force couple between opposing cylinders a n d in t u r n increase shaft stress and foundation requirements. Your nearest Clark representative will be pleased to give you all the facts on t h e original Balanced/Opposed compressors, or write for bulletin 118.
