A STATE OF ALASKA VACANCY AN­ NOUNCEMENT. The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation is recruiting for the following permanent, full-time positions. CHEMIST III, IV, V: These positions perform organic/inorganic analysis for a statewide environmental regulatory laboratory. MINI­ MUM QUALIFICATIONS: For all levelsGraduation from college with a major in chemistry AND Chemist III: Two years of professional laboratory experience as a chemist, bio/geochemist, criminalogist or closely related position; Chemist IV: Educa­ tion and four years of professional laborato­ ry experience as above; graduate study in any of the chemistry related areas may sub­ stitute for up to two years of the experience on a year-for-year basis; Chemist V: Educa­ tion and six years professional laboratory experience as above; graduate study in chemistry related areas may substitute for up to two years of experience on a year-foryear basis. To be considered for these posi­ tions, applicants must have experience in one of the following: INORGANIC chem­ ists—experience and training in acid sam­ ple digestions, atomic absorption spectros­ copy, computers (IBM compatible), and inductively coupled argon plasma spectro­ meters; ORGANIC chemists—experience and training In ultrasonic, liquid-solid, and liquid-liquid extractions; gas chromatogra­ phy using flame ionization, electrolytic con­ ductivity, photoionization, and mass spec­ trometer detectors; infrared and ultraviolet spectrophotometry; and high performance liquid chromatography. MINIMUM START­ ING SALARY: Chemist III ($3,216/month), Chemist IV ($3,682/month), and Chemist V ($4,236/month).
