When erected as shown above, the specific gravity of liquids may be read directly to the fourth decimal place. No calculations are nec essary. Only one roller type rider is required. The chain is worked by a knob offering convenient operation and precise control. The base is equipped with leveling screws and a spirit level.
2 For specific gravity of solids After substitution of the plummet with the slotted bas ket, four quick easy weighings furnish all the data necessary to determine the specific gravity of any solid. With water-soluble solids, other liquids such as benzene or petroleum may be used. 3

A bow pan is available at slight extra cost to convert the balance into one for weighings of not more than 20 grams with a sensitivity of 10 milligrams.
