T h e exterior concentrate is said to offer exceptional resistance to water, weather, inorganic acids, al kalies, and salts. For exterior concrete surface refinishing, it can be applied directly over structural concrete that has crumbled, honeycombed, or spalled. T h e interior latex binder possesses both high tensile strength and resist ance to organic Éats and oils. An interior application recently developed is its use as a binder on terrazzo floors. Applied to a 1 / 4 - or 3 / 8 -in. thickness, as opposed to l 1 / 2 - to 2-in. of ordinary concrete on terrazzo, says company, the coating reduces deadweight as much as 15 pounds per square foot. The binder can also be used in industrial, commercial, and utility floors where it offers high resistance to many corrosive agents and cleaning compounds. C 3

Colored Epoxy Hardeners In introducing colored safety hardeners for epoxy resins, Furane Plastics says it offers the most effective quality control measure yet developed for epoxy resins. By adding the colored hardeners to an epoxy resin, visual inspection can now determine whether or not thorough and adequate mixing has taken place. Striations, streaks, and uneven color distribution will indicate improper mixing, frequently suspected but never definitely indicated from casual inspection of noncolored hardeners and t h e resin, says Furane. The new hardeners also enhance the decorative appeal of epoxy resins. Not only will they aid part identification, says company, b u t they are attractive in appearance and permanent in effect. • Chemical Insecticide has introduced Chem-Vape, a one-shot treatment for control of weeds and soil-borne insects and diseases. A dithiocarbamate liquid, the new insecticide is said to ensure effective control of various grasses and broad leaf weeds including the seeds and also to destroy nematodes, insects, and fungi found in the soil. Chem-Vape is offered in liquid form packed in 55-, 30-, 5-, and 1-gal. containers. C5
Modified Latex Emulsions Coatings, consisting of modified latex emulsions which combine cement and "cementitious" materials, and now offered by Surco International, were developed by Georgia Tech's research institute after several years of testing.
