DOW
progress in URETHANE CHEMISTRY
CONSISTENT URETHANE FOAMS BEGIN IN THE POLYOL PLANT Dow polyethers and isocyanate a d d u c t s - n o w trademarked VORANOL and VORANATE respectively —have solved the major problem of consistency for foam producers. The quality of urethane foams starts far back, with the "original" raw materials from which polyglycols are made. It must be held, too, during formulation, which controls the properties you require in foam. Dow makes polyglycols from the ground up.

Because Dow starts with such a wide range of basic chemicals—propylene, for example—Dow is in a unique position for manufacturing polyglycols with countless made-to-order properties. Dow specialists can answer formulating needs for one-shot or prepolymer systems. For rigid foams, Dow offers a single source of supply and formulating help for both the polyglycol or polyether (VORANOL) and TDI adduct (VORANATE).
. . . and from the Vorane family, consistency in wide-range use! The series of nine commercial Vorane chemicals are based on propylene oxide. They provide consistent results, while covering the range of present foam production requirements, for both flexible and rigid applications. FOR FLEXIBLE FOAMS-Voranol P-2000 • Voranol CP-2700 • Voranol CP-3000 • Voranol CP-4000 • Voranol CP-5000 • Voranol CP-3001 FOR RIGID FOAMS-Voranol RN-600 • Voranate R-l • Voranate R-2 In addition to these propylene oxide-based production materials, Dow has a great number of other urethane chemicals under development, in-
eluding materials based on ethylene oxide, styrene oxide, butylene oxide, and epichlorohydrin. Only Dow has such a wide variety of starting-point oxides to work from. Among the new materials under development are chemicals for producing "self-extinguishing" and "one-shot" rigid foams. The Dow team of polyol specialists, with their breadth of experience in formulating and using polyglycols, have directed this experience toward urethane, and this total know-how is at your service.
