Copyrights and Chemists At the New York meeting scheduled for August 23-28, 1981, a symposium "A Practical Approach to Copyright for Chemists" is scheduled. The organizers, Bruce Thrasher (of Willard Grant Press and the American Association of Publishers) and Carol Risher (stafc director of copyright for AAP and director of the Copyright Information Center) would like some information from chemists about what topics and issues they would like covered. This is what is planned so far:
Part I: New Copyright Low: how this affects teaching; fair use; guidelines for classroom use of @ material; obtaining permission; Chemical Abstracts document delivery service. Part 11: Copyright in Terms of New Technologies: how @ affects eomputer-assisted instruction, video-discs, and video tapes; data-base publishing. Part I l l : Panel Discussion. What topics would you like to see added to those listed above? Deleted? Why? What are the names of persons who might contribute to a panel discussion? Why would their participation be of interest?
