4. RECIRCULATION TYPEallows control of temperature and atmosphere in the furnace through recirculation of flue gases. This permits an atmosphere of very low oxygen at low temperatures. Primary use is for regeneration and production of activated carbon and bone char.

Resistance of the resin to corrosion has been only slightly compromised by combination with ceramics. Hydrofluoric acid attacks the composite, and hot concentrated alkaline solutions affect it slightly. Some fluorinated compounds cause swelling. With these exceptions, a wide range of corrosive solutions can be satisfactorily handled.

i Corrections NEW CYCLIC OLIGOMERS by J. Rinse, Id. Eng. Ckm. 56, No. 5, 42-50 (May 1964). On pages 42 and 40 of this article, the structures representing the condensed alkoxides of tetravalent metals arc incorrect. Each of the two central oxygen atoms should be attached to two metal atoms diqonaNy opporilc each other. That is, the stmcture should be:

employs burners on each hearth and provides for removal of gases from each hearth individually. Used primarily to provide control of strongly exothermic reactions, such as roasting molybdenum concentrates and salt roasting vanadium bearing slags.
