Correction to Determination of Solvent Effects on Keto-Enol Equilibria of 1,3-Dicarbonyl Compounds Using NMR [J. Chem. Educ. 2007, 84, 1827. DOI: ed084p1827]. A. Gilbert Cook* and Paul M. Feltman

In both Table 2 in the main article and Table 3 in the Instructor's Supplement of the original article, the number for the density functional calculation of energy for the enol form of acetylacetone should be -345.7998191 au, and the density functional calculation for the dipole moment of acetylacetone should be 2.98 D. The author regrets the error. DOI: 10.1021/ed1000813 Published on Web 05/13/2010

Correction to Developing Learning Objectives and Assessment Plans at a Variety of Institutions: Examples and Case Studies [J. Chem. Educ. 2010, 87, 91. DOI: ed8000039]. Marcy H. Towns*

Page 96. In the original article, ref 14 reads “University of Utah Chemistry Department” when it should actually read “Utah State University Chemistry Department”. The author regrets the error. DOI: 10.1021/ed100066c Published on Web 05/13/2010

Correction to A Novel, Simplified Scheme for Plastics Identification [J. Chem. Educ. 2010, 87, 147. DOI: 10.1021/ed800055p]. Mary E. Harris* and Barbara Walker

The JCE Classroom Activity, “A Novel, Simplified Scheme for Plastics Identification”, by Mary E. Harris and Barbara Walker (1), stated that Hands on Plastics kits from the American Chemistry Council are no longer available. This is incorrect; the kits are now available for purchase at the American Chemistry Council's Plastics Division Web site, http://www.americanchemistry.com/store/detail.aspx?ID= 259&CategoryID=14&Producttype=-1&ParentID= (accessed May 2010). The kits provide uniformly sized pellets of various common resins used in density experiments. Literature Cited 1. Harris, M. E.; Walker, B. A Novel, Simplified Scheme for Plastics Identification. J. Correction to Carbon Footprint Calculations: An Application of Chemical Principles [J. Chem. Educ. 2010, 87, 168. DOI: 10.1021/ed8000528]. Richard S. Treptow

In the article “Carbon Footprint Calculations: An Application of Chemical Principles”, by Richard S. Treptow (1), typographical errors occurred in two equations. Equation 8 should be written: 44:01 g CO2 1 mol CO2 44:01 g CO2 ¼ 1 mol CH4 1 mol CO2 mol CH4 and equation 12 should be written: ! ! 4:94 10 - 2 g CO2 1 pound 1:055 kJ 106 Btu 453:6 g 1 Btu million Btu kJ ¼

115 pounds CO2 million Btu

In addition, the article has supporting information for classroom use, which is available via the Internet. Literature Cited 1. Treptow, R. S. Carbon Footprint Calculations: An Application of Chemical Principles. J. Chem. Educ. 2010, 87, 168-171; DOI: 10.1021/ed8000528.
