Correction to “Demonstrating Basic Properties of Spectroscopy Using a Self-Constructed Combined Fluorimeter and UVPhotometer” Eivind V. Kvittingen, Lise Kvittingen,* Thor Bernt Melø, Birte Johanne Sjursnes, and Richard Verley J. Chem. Educ. 2017, 94 (10), 1486−1491. DOI: 10.1021/acs.jchemed.7b00121 ABSTRACT: This correction incorporates a relevant reference, “A Concept of Dual Optical Detection Using Three Light Emitting Diodes”, to a work on a combined UV-photometer and fluorimeter constructed from three LEDs, wires, and LEGO bricks, featuring a flexible design for various experiments.

n article by Robert Koncki, Marta Pokrzywnicka, and Łukasz Tymecki entitled “A Concept of Dual Optical Detection Using Three Light Emitting Diodes”1 has been brought to our attention. This article should have been referred to in our article.2 Our literature survey was evidently not extensive enough. We have made a mistake, although not intentionally, and we apologize for this. We are struck by the similarities between the two articles. Nevertheless, there are differences between them in their main perspectives and in the experiments suggested. In our work,2 we use “the PEDD concept” to demonstrate basic properties of fluorescence. Our audience is chemistry educators, not research chemists; thus, our descriptions and suggestions reflect this.
