he numbers on the global plastic debris input from rivers provided in the abstract are incorrect. The correct version with the numbers from the Results section is: Using MMPW as a predictor we calculate the global plastic debris inputs form rivers into the sea to range between 0.47 × 106 and 2.75 × 106 t/y. In sections 2.6 and 3.4., in Table S1, and in the data file provided in the Supporting Information, the designation “Model 1” and “Model 2” have been confused. This does not affect the data, only text and table headings. We regret these errors and thank the readers for pointing it out. In section 2.6 (page 12248), the current version states the following: “Model 1” is based on the microplastic data set which includes all microplastic measurements. “Model 2” takes data sets into account where both microplastic and macroplastic fraction were measured. The correct version should be as follows: “Model 1” takes data sets into account where both microplastic and macroplastic fraction were measured. “Model 2” is based on the microplastic data set which includes all microplastic measurements. In section 3.4 (page 12249), the current version states the following: “Model 1” comprises all microplastic measurements. “Model 2” takes only data sets into account where both microplastic and macroplastic have been measured in conjunction. The correct version should be as follows: “Model 1” takes only data sets into account where both microplastic and macroplastic have been measured in conjunction. “Model 2” comprises all microplastic measurements. In Supporting Information Table S1, “Model 1” and “Model 2” headers were attributed to the wrong data columns. The corrected version is provided with the corrected column headers highlighted in blue. The same error was found in the data file, which has been corrected accordingly.
