The products 15 and 16 should be E-isomers, i.e., (E)-methyl 2-bromo-3(4-nitrophenyl)acrylate (15) and (E)-isopropyl 2-bromo3-(4-nitrophenyl)acrylate (16), according to 2-D NMR analysis and the chemical shift of the olefinic proton of the corresponding products.
