Correction to Synthesis and Characterization of Thermosetting Furan-Based Epoxy Systems Fengshuo Hu, John J. La Scala, Joshua M. Sadler, and Giuseppe R. Palmese* Macromolecules 2014, 47 (10), 3332−3342. DOI: 10.1021/ma500687t S Supporting Information *

In continuing our research on furanyl-based epoxy (BOF) systems that were the basis for ref 1, we discovered an important error in that work regarding the preparation of the benzyl-based analogue systems (BOB). Although the stoichiometric ratios of BOB systems quoted in the paper are correct, during the preparation of the samples an unfortunate transposition of digits occurred that resulted in BOB thermosets being prepared off stoichiometrythe epoxy equivalent weight (EEW) of BOB is 126, but EEW = 162 was used in sample preparation. This resulted in epoxy-rich systems being tested that have lower Tg than those prepared at stoichiometry. The major change in observations/conclusions is that the Tg for BOB systems is slightly higher than BOF while the paper reports the opposite. The conclusions concerning differences in glassy modulus and the impact of the additional methylene linkage on Tg remain unchanged. We have repeated all experiments and submit a corrected paper as Supporting Information with the new data for the BOB systems making appropriate changes when necessary.
