The original electron micrographs, as shown below, illustrate molecules of native (a) and cross-linked (b) yeast pyruvate carboxylase negatively stained with sodium silicotungstate. Five computer-generated tetramers were superimposed on the electron micrograph in (b) to illustrate their similarity in appearance.
