Cutting Filter Paper for Microscale Use At Bethany College we have found a new use for cork borers. One of the new microscale organic kits uses a Hirsch funnel with a nondisposable 20-pn polyethylene fiitted disk. I t is suggested that for gmd practice a piece of #1 filter paper be used to prevent dogging of the frit. You can pick exactly the diameter cork borer needed and cut a supply of filter paper by placing approximately six fdter papers on a piece of wood and simply boring away. Filter paper for the top of chromatography columns can be cut in the same way. Charles R. Englund Bethany College Lindsborg, KS 67456
