Davison's Z-100 Molecular Sieves Remove H20 and C02 from Combustion Products to Produce Pure Nitrogen The C. M. Kemp Manufacturing Com pany, a worldwide supplier of solid adsorbent driers and nitrogen generators headquartered in Glen Burnie, Mary land, employs Davison Z-100 high capac ity molecular sieves in the adsorber and ultra-sorber drier units of their nitrogen gas generator. In these units, the mo lecular sieves remove water vapor and carbon dioxide from combustion prod ucts to provide a low-cost, high purity source of nitrogen gas. The purifying and drying of nitrogen gas streams is a critical function in many industrial and chemical processes where high purity and low dew points must be consistently maintained. The production of synthetic fibers, plastics and inter mediates is an example of one industry using high purity nitrogen from Kemp Generators.

The C. M. Kemp Manufacturing Com pany found that by using Davison's special Z-100 molecular sieves to purify and dry gases, they achieved higher capac ity per unit volume adsorbent. This is due to the fact that the Z-100 sieve

Davison SYLOID® Conditioning Agents Solve Flow and Caking Problems in Foods. Recent tests of SYLOID silica gels in more than 40 foods and food additives in which caking problems exist have demonstrated the superior anti-caking and free-flow protection afforded by the use of these pure, micron-sized particles of amorphous silica. Among the foods and food additives

tested were cocoa, orange flakes, citric acid, molasses, powdered and fondant sugar and tomato paste crystals. Illustrated above is an example of the way a one-percent by weight concentra tion of a SYLOID conditioning agent solved a caking problem in orange juice flakes. The treated sample and a control W. contains no binder (it is 100% adsorb ent), therefore, it has a capacity advan tage of up to 2 0 % more than regular binder-type molecular sieves. Kemp also found that dew points lower than — 100°F. could be achieved in gas drying opera tions because of the unique ability of the molecular sieves to remove the last traces of moisture from gas streams. For higher standards of consistently pure gases and liquids, Davison's wide range of molecular sieves can provide the answer to your particular problem. New Davison Rare Earths and Thorium Booklet This new booklet describes the role of Rare Earths in the Davison Chemical Division. Pictured in the booklet is the production of mixed rare earth com pounds, as well as high p u r i t y r a r e earth and thorium chemicals. A variety of products are discussed in detail, as well as the market-expanding applications research conducted at Davison's Chattanooga plant in a con tinuing program designed to be of ser vice to all industry.
