NEW PRODUCTS Titanium Ion Pump
RECORD AND/OR CONTROL SPECIAL LAB !· ' OR PILOT PROCESSES WITH ,; | DAYSTROM INSTRUMENTS
Vacuums in excess of Ι Ο 9 can be ob tained with a titanium ion pump as sembly consisting of the ion pump, magnet, and power supply. The ion pump contains two cathodes, each con sisting of a loop of tungsten wire and situated on either side of the anode which is formed by a square loop of molybdenum wire. One of the cath odes is also wound with titanium wire. These electrodes are enclosed in a glass envelope which is tabulated at each end for convenient installation between the device to be evacuated and the diffusion pump. Special lab or pilot plant processes often call for recording or controlling systems that are not available as standard items. If you have such a need, see Daystrom. We will design special instru ments to fill your requirement, and at a price that compares favorably with our standard models. This is because the modifica tions needed are often minimal, when one deals with a product line as extensive as ours. Extra engineering charges are generally very small. Daystrom instruments monitor virtually any process param eter... temperature, pressure, pH, electrical characteristics, gas chromatograph inputs, and many other measurements. They are available in many forms... single point and multi-point recorders and controllers; two-pen, two-zone recorders; two-pen, singlezone recorders; indicators; adjustable-span, adjustable-zero recorders ; circular chart recorder-controllers, non-indicating con trollers, integrating recorders, and other forms. Whether you need a single instrument for lab use or a group of installations for a large process, contact us for information.

ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
New Thermco Chromatograph detects quantities as small as 0.5 p.p.m. of hydrogen, argon, and methane in ni trogen. This instrument features a method of handling the gases so that extraneous impurities are not intro duced. A thermal conductivity detec tor cell is sensitive to 100 p.p.m. full scale; time for analysis including methane is usually less than ten min utes. Other columns enable the chromat ograph to measure impurities such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and heavier gases. The instrument can, with minor modifications, measure higher concentrations of impurities, and can analyze other mixtures of gases in cylinders, such as oxygen in argon.
