A Symposium on Trace Analysis will be held November 2 to 4 a t t h e Academy of Medicine, New York, Ν . Υ . John H . Yoe, University of Virginia, Char lottesville, Va., is chairman, and H e n r y J. Koch, Jr., Sloan-Kettering I n s t i t u t e , New York, Ν . Υ., is coordinator. At tendance a t t h e meeting, which is being sponsored b y t h e Rockefeller F o u n d a tion, is by invitation only. T h e symposium has a threefold pu rpose : to bring together authorities in scientific disciplines related to the de termination of trace constituents in industrial, agricultural, biological, and medical fields; to consider which tech niques are directly applicable t o t h e various fields of investigation; and t o discuss t h e separation and concentra tion of millimierogram quantities of metals and t h e problem of contamina tion hazards. A t o t a l of 21 papers will be presented covering such topics as chromatography, ion exchange, extrac tions and separations, microscopy, spot testing, colorimetry, fluorimetry, spec t r o m e t r y , p h o t o m e t r y , potentiometry, coulometry, polarography, amperometry, spectroscopy, micrography, neutron activation analysis, a n d micro biological techniques.
