Fisk University will hold its 15th annual sessions on infrared spectros copy and gas chromatography. The first infrared session, August 11 to 15, will concentrate on the fundamentals of infrared spectroscopy. This course is designed for those who wish to re view the elementary theory or need practical laboratory experience with modern commercial infrared spectro photometers. During the same period, the univer sity offers a course on basic gas chro matography. These sessions and those for the basic infrared program are so arranged that persons enrolled in either program may audit the general lectures of the other program without extra charge. The second infrared spectroscopy session, August 17 to 21, will be de voted to the interpretation of infrared spectra and to a presentation of recent developments in infrared technique. Tuition charges are $125 for the first infrared session, $125 for the gas chro matography session, and $150 for the second infrared session. Further infor mation is available from the Director, Fisk University Infrared Spectroscopy Institute, Fisk University, Nashville, Tenn.
Organic Spectroscopy School in London The Royal Institute of Chemistry in collaboration with The Society for Ana lytical Chemistry will present a summer school in organic spectroscopy at the School of Pharmacy, London, England, from September 6 to 12. The courses, one in infrared spectroscopy and the other in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy will run concurrently. They are designed for qualified chem ists of graduate status. Emphasis will be placed on fundamental principles and basic techniques. More informa tion on these courses is available by writing to Royal Institute of Chemistry, 30 Russell Square, London, W. C. 1, England.
Rocky Mountain Spectroscopy Conference The seventh annual Rocky Mountain spectroscopy conference will be held August 10 and 11, at the Albany Hotel, Denver, Colo. This meeting is spon sored by the Rocky Mountain Section of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy
