ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
• The Brown 2 Hydro-Analyzer is an analytical unit for determination of unsaturation in organic compounds. As little as 0.0002 mole of unsaturation may be analyzed routinely with better than 1 % accuracy.
The chromatographic analyzer for online composition control of gas or liquid streams has several unique features. First, analyzer accuracy has been made comparable to laboratory devices by close control of the temperature of the sensitive detection system. Second, there is access to columns and valves which are contained in a compartment isolated from the explosion-proof housings in which all electrical components are enclosed. Third, instruments used to check analyzer performance are mounted on the front of the analyzer. Both units provide in situ generation of catalysts for hydrogénation, avoiding the hazards ordinarily involved in adding these highly active catalysts to organic solvents. After catalyst formation, the units generate hydrogen for the hydrogénation reaction. N o hydrogen cylinders, gas burets or pressure vessels are necessary.
