Dimethyl Sulfoxide A most unusual NEW Solvent... Dimethyl Sulfoxide is a clear water-white, very hygroscopic and completely water soluble liquid. It is believed to be non-toxic and has l i t t l e odor a n d is o n l y s l i g h t l y bitter to the taste. It has a high boiling point, high flash point and low freezing point when mixed with water. Among its many potential uses are: • Desulfurization and separation of petroleum fractions by selective solvent action. • Solvent for acetylene and other gases. • A s a solvent for use in the spinning of synthetic fibers. • Solvent for certain plastics· • Paint removal. • Insecticide (Fly) synergist.
