DOES YOUR EVAPORATOR LIMIT YOUR POTENTIAL A T HIGHER VACUUM

What do you do when you1 re con fronted with the need to evaporate a viscous, heat-sensitive material ? Others have discovered that this is a simple task when accomplished with the Pfaudler® Wiped - Film Evaporator. For example: One firm uses Wiped-Film Evaporators to distill high-boiling amines and glycols. Reason? Product can go off-color with excessive heating. Another user reports the Pfaudler evaporator replaced a time-con suming recrystallization for their aliphatic. A third firm was able to handle heat-sensitive organics 24 hours a day with exceptionally high evaporation rates. You get such results because this ' vacuum evaporator has a mechanically wiped surface. It uses

centrifugal force to hold freefloating wipers in contact with the internal heated wall. Slots in the wipers prevent curl and spread your product in a thin, uniform film to assure full use of heat-transfer area. There is no product degradation, because heat contact time is kept to a minimum. Thus, thin film and short con tact time provide efficient handling of heat-sensitive materials. Same unit is also useful with viscous materials and products that are low in thermal conductivity. Since the condenser is inside,

there's a negligible pressure drop between evaporating and condens ing surfaces—very important in high-vacuum work. And with the Wiped-Film Evapo rator you get more effective separa tion of volatiles, better removal of color bodies and can concentrate solids in solution to a higher degree. Choose from standard models with 4 to 100 sq. ft. of evaporating area. Larger sizes on a custom basis. Ask for Bulletin 991. Address all inquiries to our Pfaudler Division, Rochester 3, N.Y.
