Here are 8 superb problem solvers for your consideration: ABALYIf

CELLOLYIf 95-80T

The Methyl Ester of Rosin Abalyn® is an amber-colored liquid resin. Its physical form and wide compatibility have led to a variety of applications in . . . lacquers, inks, paper coatings, varnishes, adhesives, sealing compounds, plastics, wood preservatives, cosmetics, and perfumes.

An Alkyd Derived from Technical

ABITOL® Technical Hydroabietyl Alcohol Abitol® is a water-white, tacky, balsamic resin. These properties, combined with its solubility in most organic solvents and compatibility with other resins, film-formers, and oils, have led to its use as a resinous plasticizer; pigment grinding medium, aid adhesion in plastics, lacquers, inks and adhesive composition.

Hydroabietyl Alcohol Cellolyn® 95-80T is an 80% solution (predominantly toluene) of a waterwhite, balsamic, oil-free alkyd resin. It is internally plasticized and is nondrying. It is used in the manufacture of pale, flexible, highly color-stable, alcohol-resistant wood lacquers; and as extender for nondrying oil alkyds in pigmented lacquers, paper lacquers, and printing inks.

32 C&EN

of Rosin Hercolyn® D is a light amber-colored, liquid resin. It possesses a marked degree of oxidation resistance and is deodorized by a special steam-sparging treatment. It is used as a tackifier, a plasticizer, and a resin-plasticizer in such finished items as lacquers, inks, adhesives, floor tiles, vinyl plastisols, artificial leather, anti-fouling paints, and has a number of other uses, including fixatives for perfumes.

NEOLYlf 2 0

CELLOLYN® 98-80T A Nondrying, Oil-Free, Plasticizing Alkyd Resin Cellolyn® 98-80T is an 80% solids toluene solution of a nondrying, oilfree, plasticizing, alkyd resin. It can be used as the sole resin component in wood-lacquer finishing systems to provide good rubbing properties, good cold-check resistance, and better-than average alcohol resistance.

Rosin-Derived Alkyd-Type Resin Neolyn® 20 is a tough, relatively tackfree, amber-colored resin of medium hardness. It possesses flexibility and strength characteristics approaching those of a film-forming material. It is highly soluble in ketones, esters, and aromatic hydrocarbons, but insoluble in, and highly resistant to, aliphatic hydrocarbons, greases, fats, oils, and waxes. It is useful in adhesives (particularly hot melt types) plastisols, organosols, vinyl-type inks, lacquers, and floor tile.

NEOLYlf 23-75T

CELLOLYN® 2 1 A Phthalate Ester of Technical Hydroabietyl Alcohol Cellolyn® is a very pale, tacky, lowsoftening-point resin. It is soluble in a variety of solvents, has excellent pigment-wetting characteristics, and is compatible with natural and synthetic polymers, including acrylics. It is widely used in hot-melt and pressure-sensitive adhesives, in specialty nitrocellulose lacquers and printing inks, and in preparation of flushed colors.

HERCOLYiP D The Hydrogenated Methyl Ester

PR70-1

A Rosin-Derived Elastomeric Resin Neolyn® 23-75T is a 75% solids toluene solution of an amber-colored, low-softening-point resin. It combines many of the favorable characteristics of rosin-based resins with the flexibility and toughness of a polymeric alkyd. As a modifier for film-formers it contributes pigment-wetting properties, excellent adhesion, outstanding gloss, and broad compatibility without lowering the strength of the film former.
