A Flask for VPC Analyses The application of vapor phase chromatography to the analysis of products in organic reactions has decreased by a factor of ten or more the amounts of materials required for the study of these reaotions. A wohlem which arises when reactions are conducted on a small scale is the isolation of the product iree from solvent or other contaminants in a manner that is amenable to oommon samnline teahnioues. We have found flasks with bottoms d r a m into oapillaw sections (see figure) quite convenient for colleoting liquid samples for vapor phase k-g13cm ohromatographio analysis. Solutions of reaction products in a volatile solvent can he dried and transferred to the evaporation flask. Evaporation of the solvent is quickly completed on a rotary evaporator and the liquid residue collects in the capillary section of the can he inserted into the flask. A svrinee " flask and filled very easily. Flasks with capscities of l(t50 ml e m he m d e canveniently for sealing on to 24/40 3 joints. 2-4MM. I.D. Flasks with smaller capacities can he made 24/40 JOINT with joints of smaller dimensions ~~~
