"A rose by any other name../' We have a supervisor in our plant in Tennessee who doesn't read our ads. How do we know? Because a Philadelphia customer ordered a drum of Tenamene 2 late one Friday afternoon. Definitely had to have it on Monday for inhibitor sweetening experiments on a particular gasoline stream. The Sales Coordinator got the word from our Philadelphia office thirty minutes after the Shipping Department had quit for the day. But .he went ahead and had the paper work done and persuaded a traffic manager to stay late for trucking arrangements. When he called the Inhibitor Department, the Supervisor said he had an early dinner date, was just leaving. It was shortly before 6:00 when the Sales Coordinator arrived (with all the papers) in the Inhibitor Department shipping area. The Supervisor was there, moving out a drum of Tenamene 2 to the loading platform. An address label was typed and affixed, during which time the coordinator mentioned that while he would be late for his dinner date, the Supervisor could take consolation from the knowledge that the incident would provide copy material for our advertising campaign on customer service and the Weekend Service Department. The Inhibitor Department Supervisor had no earthly idea what the Sales Coordinator was talking about. To him this was routine procedure. Our production people, being active participants, know well the kind of service we offer our customers. If they happen to look upon it as routine, well, as we said/'A rose by any other name../' P.S. The customer received his Tenamene 2 on time.
