What happens when you buy from Eastman!
A story in which is related the reasons why a plasticizer supplier had to borrow back five gallons Ten-fifteen of an April evening one of our Atlanta salesmen called home. After explaining where he had been and what he had been doing (his wife had tried unsuccessfully to reach him several times), he learned that a Piedmont area plastisol manufacturer had phoned his home at 6:30. A new Eastman plasticizer the manufacturer had been investigating was about to get a plant trial. Five gallons were needed early the next afternoon. From 11:15 till midnight the salesman tried to arrange for the plasticizer to be flown from Kingsport. No luck. The air line said it wouldn't arrive in time. At midnight he tried the bus line. Again no soap. Then—inspiration! He put in a call to the home of an Atlanta customer who was using the plasticizer regularly. Apologizing for the lateness of his call, he explained the situation. Could he borrow five gallons? The customer agreed, told him he could square accounts later on. A quick call to the airport followed, and then he phoned the plastisol manufacturer to inform him that the five-gallon pail would arrive shortly after noon. He was pleased to hear this—even at 2 A.M. Early that afternoon the plasticizer arrived at the plastics plant. Even better, the trial run was successful and an order for a commercial quantity followed. Oh yes, arrangements were made to return the five gallons borrowed. After all, a cup of sugar is one thing, but...
