KEY 2014 ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Logistics and support were given for several seminar speakers visiting Hong Kong to present scientific talks at some local universities. A number of ACS members in Hong Kong helped support the Symposium for Chemistry Postgraduate Research In Hong Kong that was held in April 2014 (this symposium had 400 participants, a keynote speaker, 6 postgraduate student talks, and around 150 postgraduate student poster presentations). Some members gave talks on chemistry to secondary school students in Hong Kong. Administer the ACS U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Exams in Hong Kong as requested by local schools (37 students took part 1 of the exams and 2 US citizen students qualified and took part 2 of the test in 2014). We identified 3 undergraduate students to participant in the ACS/CSC Chemistry Festival training workshop held in Beijing, China in August. The participants have undergone a training programme in how to conduct different kinds of chemistry experiments for the promotion of general science to the public. They have started organizing demonstration sessions in high schools in Hong Kong.
