Experimental Investigafion of the Lamlnar-Turbulent Transition for Newtonian Flow in Rectangular Ducts. The theoretically
predicted minimum critical Reynolds number as a function of aspect ratio is verified experimentally. Four rectangular ducts with aspect ratios bracketing the predicted minimum were used. These data quantitatively verify the theory providing firm proof of its validity.

Catalytic Oxidation of Propylene in a Stirred Reactor. Highest yield of 56.2% acrolein was obtained a t 5.6’% conversion. At a

Concentration Polarization Effected in Reverse Osmosis Using Porous Cellulose Acetate Membranes. Analytical expressions
were developed for solution systems in turbulent or laminar flow in rectangular channels between flat parallel membranes. Results are illustrated using data for a set of membranes involving a wide range of solute separations. Some factors relating to economic analysis are indicated.

A Method for Preparation of Pure Chlorine Dioxide. Reactions of chlorine and sodium hypochlorite with sodium chlorite in presence of acetic anhydride are described. A yield of about 95% pure chlorine dioxide can be produced in a reaction suited for continuous operation. Scope and limitations of the process are discussed.
