CHED Events CHED-Sponsored Workshops High School Program Time: Sunday, March 28, 8:30 a.m–3:45 p.m. Location: Coastline Community College, Garden Grove Center, Garden Grove Fee: $30 Description: The Chemistry Classroom Today, Visions for Tomorrow is the theme for High School Chemistry Teachers’ Day. The keynoted address will be given by Patrick Wegner, California State University, Fullerton, titled “Chemistry Teaching in the 21st Century”. Arlene Russell, UCLA, will give the luncheon address. Other participants include Steven and Susan Zumdahl and representatives from the Terrific Science program, Vernier Scientific, and the ACS Education Division. Quantum Explorations in a PLTL Setting Time: Monday, March 29, 1–4 p.m. Location: Clarion Hotel, California 1 Room Fee: none Description: Participants will be introduced to the use of Quantum Explorer software (http://quantumconcepts.bu.edu) structured to support PLTL explorations of quantization, wave functions, atomic structure, hybridization, and spectroscopy. Participants are expected to bring a PC laptop computer with a CD-ROM drive.
