See a GYRATORY SCREEN that gives 35 sq ft of screening area in only 16 sq ft of floor space The stacked-deck design of Allis-Chalmers gyratory screens con serves valuable floor space — separates materials into 2, 3 or 4 products. Stainless steel construction cuts maintenance require ments, reduces downtime. A-C gyratory screens handle abrasive or corrosive materials, dry foods and pharmaceuticals with care. Gentle, quiet, vibration-free operation means minimum disintegration of fragile particles . . . improves efficiency and productivity. Got a screening problem? See us at the Chem Show. l/EC CHEM SHOW REPORT

Centrico's Westfalia line will be on hand with the new "Big Sam"' desludger for recovering polyethylene and polypropylene from solvent streams. Machines are already in wide use, with existing models producing u p to 6500 gallons per hour. Young Gyro-coolers have been developed for simultaneous sifting and cooling of granular products. Originally produced for plastic re sins, Gyro-Cooler may be applied to other food, chemical, and plastic industries. T h e rotary leaf (Polyclean) filter, Niagara Filters Div., American Machine and Metals, Inc., is designed for efficiency in removing cake in wet or dry stage. T h e unit is unique in that the sluice is always in direct contact with the cake and never more than 1 inch from the cake surface. This provides for utmost sluicing efficiency. Λ plow scrapes the cake from the leaf sur faces for positive dry-cake removal. Leaves are designed for both sluicing and dry-cake removal and both the plow and sluice can be used at the same time if desired. T h e sluice can also be used as a final spray rinse of the leaves. A conveyor carries the cake from the filter. Hagan Chemicals & Controls of fer new tubular element pressure filters for cooling water and con densate a n d for clarification or process waters. Elements, available in cither plastic or stainless steel, are effective on particles as small as 1 micron. Plastic elements are used at water temperatures to 140° F. and stainless steel is used from 140° to 300° F. These filters are designed for removal of oil or suspended metal oxides, removal of trace contaminants, and removal of sus pended solids. Selas Flotronics, Division of Selas Corp. of America, has three new lines of filters for fine filtration of liquids and gases. Λ11 three types feature in-line mounting by pipe connections. Both case and element can be inspected easily or removed without breaking line connections. O n e type uses Selas microporous porcelain filter elements; the second uses microporous stainless steel ele m e n t s ; the third uses a series of disks m a d e of very fine stainless steel screen. Elements are interchange able and capable of retaining particle sizes clown to 0.3 micron.
