Correction Several persons have called attention to the misleading impression given in our write-up of the 1977 ACS Analytical Chemistry award, published in the October issue, page 959 A. T h e enzyme electrodes of Yellow Springs Instrument Co., Yellow Springs, Ohio, were invented by Leland C. Clark (U.S. P a t e n t 3,539,455, applied in 1964, granted in 1970) and were developed commercially by YSI's own professional staff. Other pioneering workers, including Herman Levine with Leeds & Northrup, contributed to developments in the technology of immobilized enzymes with electrosensors which now appear in many commercial instruments.
Ellen Spotz monitors a liquid chromatographic experiment at Eastman Kodak's research laboratories in Rochester, N.Y., during her summer work experience at Kodak. Dr. Spotz Qf the Washington Technical Institute is one of several teachers at predominantly black schools this year to receive National Urban League summer fellowships. These teachers are placed in industrial or government projects during the summer months to acquire jpdated knowledge on chemical technology which can be translated into more effective leaching programs at their schools
