Dr. Taylor served the section as treasurer in 1948 and 1949, secretary in 1950 and 1951, and presi dent-elect in 1952. H e succeeds Joseph J. Fahey of t h e U. S. Geological Survey. George \V. Irving, Jr., U. S. Department of Agriculture, will serve as chairman-elect in 1953. Re-elected secretary and treasurer were H o w a r d W . Bond, National Institutes of Health, and Charles H. Naeser, George Washington University, respectively.

Viertei Takes Office in Northern N e w York Section Chairman of the ACS Northern New York Section for 1953 is William K. Vier tei, instructor in chemical technology at the State I'niversity Agricultural and Technical Institute, Canton, Ν. Y. He succeeds F . William Brown, associate professor of chemis try at Clarkson Col lege of Technology. Mr. Viertei has been secretary-treasurer ol t h e section Miice it was chartered in 1951. Elected vice-chairman was Kenneth II. Hansen of W . II. Loomis T a l c Corp. Herman L. Shulman, associate professor of chemical engineering at Clarkson Col lege of Technology, was n a m e d v c r e t a r y treasurer. In addition t o the new officers, K. T.
